OCS applications competitiveness

Hi all,

I was wondering how competitive my application will be or if I shouldn't get my hopes up too high.
I struggled a lot in college and end with a 2.35 GPA and degrees in Math and Econ.
Since graduating I have taken classes like Physics 1, Physics 2, advanced probability theory, and a few other math courses getting a combined GPA of 3.8 in the 7 courses I have taken since graduating.
I have also been plugged into the community volunteering for the past 3 years helping other people not to struggle the way I have academically.
I also managed to get a 71 on the OAR.
Finally I have worked in a business intelligence job since graduating and gone from entry level to a team lead in 4 years at a fortune 100 company.
My question is will this all make up for my bad GPA? or will most programs still not even consider me? I need to decide which program I want to apply to and I would really like to do Navy intelligence, but feel like I stand more of a chance in something like SWO.

Your GPA will be averaged from all college courses you have taken. While the 3.8 from the 7 courses additional courses you spoke about will definitely boost your overall, they don't really matter in the grand scheme of things as they will only look at your overall. A 71 on the OAR is fantastic though.

You're ineligible for both programs due to your 2.35 GPA.

SWO is 2.75, waiverable to 2.5 GPA.
Intel is 3.0, waiverable to 2.8 GPA.

Would it be worth getting my GPA up to a 2.6 or would my application for SWO still most likely be thrown out? I have a path forward to achieve the 2.6 over the summer, but would need to pay for courses so I am wondering if it would be worth it to do. I did the Math with the other courses I took and it raised it to a 2.42 since their credit load was heavier.

I mean that would increase your chances, especially since you’ll be within the waiverable limit. Additionally, they average all your classes for GPA.

Yes, otherwise you’re not eligible.

Get the GPA up! If you meet the minimum GPA with your OAR, there's a decent chance you'll get accepted. I don't have numbers, but pretty much everyone on airwarriors that has applied to SWO over the last year has been accepted, including myself (3.2 GPA, 46 OAR).

Thanks for the response! I will invest in the courses then.

Just...apply. You'll never know unless you apply. There may be follow-on work depending on the response. I'm surprised the bar is so high for SNA/SNFO...we're all dumb shits,..
