OCS Bound
Hello all,
Relatively new here, though I have been lurking in order to avoid asking an already-covered question. Here's to hoping I succeed...
In the process of applying for OCS straight out of undergrad, have good letters of recommendation, a decent GPA, test well, and am healthy and fit, so I'm not particularly worried about selection (knock on wood). Not interested in aviation, rather SWO or Supply Corps.
Now, I know all the good stuff about not being 'that guy' when I show up for OCS, but how about some tips on getting one step ahead of the game? I like to show up prepared, so bear with me as I ask some serious 'noob' questions:
-Big three, what are they? Some mentioned the benefits of memorizing a few things prior to reporting.
-Does the Navy heed preference as to what type vessel or which theater/duty station one prefers? Navy's needs first, I know, but...
-Will I take the entire ASTB or simply the OAR? Am preparing for all; again, not interested in aviation.
-When does one take the language proficiency test? Still get the extra pay even if my billet doesn't require immediate/daily use of language?
Thanks for the help,
Benton
