OCS vs ODS-

I was told initially I would be going to ODS, but now I hear I may be going to OCS. Am former military (USMC and USN) with 14 yrs. Searched threads and haven't found a good answer to this one. Not sure who actually decides (board or recruiter) or if it is written in stone (CNRC). Anyone know the real scoop? Your help to understand CNRC or the board's decision is appreciated.

Thanks wlawr005. That explains everything. So I guess I'll be getting my butt kicked again at OCS. You'd think once you serve as a Marine that our boot camp would give you a "get out of jail free" card. I love camping, Camp Marriott, Camp Hyatt. Oh, and boot camp! Thanks!

ODSCandidate- Wow, I admire your will to become a Naval Officer. Looking back- I just can't imagine doing poopeyville and the other physical love fest positions as a mid 30 yr old. You're the woman!

OCS (bootcamp again)

Well, I guess I must be into some kind of torture because going through Marine boot camp the first time was no fun. Going through it again with Marine Sergeant field days, eating sand (Parris Island Marine), the gas chamber, shooting weapons (I'm an expert, having never picking up a weapon before), and the numerous tortures they seem to come up with, yep, there's something wrong with me <smiling>.

While I maintain "Once a Marine, always a Marine", I was never a BAM (see photo). I still run, do situps and pushups everyday. I could probably kick some ass here, but you guys might like it!

Guys used to ask me why did I join the Corps and I'd say, "they said they were looking for a few good men and so was I". Now, I say, "I saw the light now I wear white". Hopefully, I will again.

I think to judge your 'BAMness' you need to show the A. ;)
