Oil Swim

Any word on what the current swim routine is at API? I've been getting a number of conflicting reports.

Specifically, I was wondering:

- The oil swim allows only one breath?
- The oil swim is done in swimming trunks vice flight suit?

Non-related: I tried searching the forum but it apparently only searches the word "swim." Putting "oil swim" in quotes yields nothing. Is this the procedure for searching two words?

Oil Swim is not a graded event, they just show you how to do, you do it, and your done.

I am assuming your talking about the stroke where you swim underwater, come up, splash, take a breath, go back down, swim, and repeat? If so, read statement above.

If memory serves correct (from about 9 months ago), all swim events are pass/fail. The only one that is timed is the mile swim, where 99% of guys pass. The only one that you must stay completely underwater is the tower jump, where you must swim about 20 seconds submerged. The rest of the events have some room for coaching and re-trying. Don't sweat the swimming; sweat the academics.
