Hi, I’ve been a member for awhile and have been out of touch. I was suppose to take my PFT last august and get my app sent in and have everything submitted for this summer, but, as you might guess from the leading sentence, things went awry. I ended up needed abdominal surgery and that pretty much put me out of the system because my first waiver to get back on track for this summer was denied. The recruiter said wait a few months and than re-apply. Well it’s been more than a few months and I’m going to see my local OSO Tuesday (5/23). I was wondering if anyone has had, or knows someone who had rather simple surgery, waited a bit and got back into the game. The OSO here at State College, PA is getting my app and ASTB scores from the Philly OSO. Basically if my waiver is accepted I should only have to take the PFT and then wait for next summer to get a spot. It’s been less than a year, so I’m hoping that stuff doesn’t expire, being that I put a lot of work into it. I’m trying to not get my hopes up, but if anyone has a reason I should get my hopes up, do tell!

I know of a few guys that had similar problems with hernia surgery. In two cases, their initial waivers got rejected. Both resubmitted and are now in A-pool/Primary. Another guy broke his collar bone and had to get a pin put in- still waived some time down the road. Resubmit- worst they can do is say no. As for things expiring, the time taken to bring anything current shouldn't be too bad.
