I would not mess with these guys. They probably dont look like much, but I bet they would rip your dick off in a fight.

Beards should still be allowable under regulation for the Navy. I think having a beard magicallyincreases your "bad-ass-ness" by something like 9 points.

We play "Acey-Duecey" in ready rooms today.

You "bad-ass-ness" gets a -20 when the seal on your OBA doesn't work because your beard gets in the way.

OBA - out

SCBA - in

Ok, My mistake. When did they switch to the SCBAs? I thought that the Navy wasn't going to use the SCBA due to the hazard of having all of the charged air bottles around. Last I heard they were going to a new version of the OBA. OBA or SCBA the seal issue is still the same. We lost two volunteer firemen a few years ago because of this very thing.

That's a myth ... we all grew beards on my one and only Mid cruise (subs) and the masks sealed just fine.

We were told not to "wax" our cruise-mandatory, Bandito-style handlebar moustaches --- dangerous with the O2 mask .... you know: O2, potential mic spark, potential face fire, potential ugly face mess .... we did not know if it was fact or fiction.

So we quit wearing the O2 mask and switched to boom mics --- looked "cooler" in any case and they did not conflict with the 'stash .... :icon_mi_1

They did this 'myth' on myth busters about a month ago. Lets just says I will never put hairspray in my hair or 'wax' my mustache, if i ever grow one, before a flight with a O2 mask.
