Opinions? Ideas?

I am married with a kid, set up for June 8th class. We live in Tennessee currently so here's what my wife and I are unsure of.

She is from Rhode Island and has family there, so initially the idea was for us all to drive up there together and her drop me off for OCS and stay with family for 3 months. But staying with family for 3 months is exhausting especially with a will be 1 year old and 2 cats. So we are trying to weigh our options but figured Id throw it up on here to see what ya'll would think.

Option 1
She stays in TN, I fly up to OCS and she later drives up either with her sister or by herself. The drive is 19 hours-ish.

Option 2
We all drive up together and she stays with family for 3 months. Not my favorite idea, but what's it matter to me?

Option 3
She stays in TN and later flies up with daughter, and I drive up to OCS and leave the car parked there as my personal storage closet.

We are also wondering how often I will actually get off base if at all? And how soon? 2nd month? 3rd Month? Not even worth her up there in the 1st month I am assuming, at least for me to get to see her. Also, do all classes put on a "show" for family before graduation? Are the "military display", dinner and graduation all on the same day?

Oh I am a prior so she is plenty used to the Navy and I have a spot as SNA.

It might depend on your plans after OCS. Are you gonna geo-bach to Pensacola, or are you moving the fam there for API and Primary? Because if they're coming with, it might be easier if they stay in Tennessee so she can coordinate the move and whatnot. Chances are that you'll get Whiting Field after API, which makes it easier since it saves you another PCS.
And you don't get off-base in most cases until you're into your candio phase, so third month. Some people can get special lib, but only in extreme cases and/or notice well in advance and/or if it's not during a major graded event. The two times I saw it was birth of a candidate's daughter and a funeral, and they were around week 2, well before RLP, so the Chain of Command was able to make it happen.

Then I guess you know that any of those options work fine…depending on what you want to do do, and how much.

For Options 1 and 3….WHAT HAPPENS TO THE POOR CATS? ;)

Haha ya any traveling does have to involve the cats unless the travel length is short enough that they can live off feeders. They will be moving to Pensacola. Is there multiple family events or just the dinner and graduation and are those in the same day?

Well, you usually get a wet liberty on Wednesday to go out and have dinner with families, then there's Pass in Review and Hi-Moms on Thursday, and then the graduation ceremony on Friday, I believe.
