I am going to OCS in September of 2009. I was wondering on the order picking process. I was enlisted for 6 years as an FC and was recently picked up for BDCP (SWO) after being out of the Navy for 3 years so I am a little behind the on the process. Would I go Combat Systems since I was an FC or does it matter? I am going to Thomas Edison State College and have a 3.33 GPA. Also could I request and IA tour my wife will still be in school attached to her NROTC unit for a whole year after I graduate so I was looking at maybe going to Afgan or Iraq. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

Another Non-qual SWO Ensign
The SWOs from my OCS class just picked our orders a week ago. You can ask about an IA but don't expect one. The only information you will be given on your choices is ship, class, and homeport. You will not know what division you are going to when you select your initial SWO billet. Your prior-OCS credentials are irrelevant. You will select in order of class rank, although if your selection process is like ours, you will be given the list about a week before you have to have your selections in. We were able to work out almost all of the billets amongst ourselves without bringing class rank into it.
Your mileage may vary of course. One thing that becomes quickly obvious here is that everything depends on what your class team wants to do.
