Explain how I can be in BDCP for over 2 years and not get my orders in a timely manner? My service record to this point is MIA, sigh. Good Lord, I feel SOL what am I suppose to do if its time for me to report (July 8th) with nothing in hand as far as orders, the prospect doesn't look to good because next week is July 4th and there is going to be a **** load of people on leave, I've contact and followed up with my recruiter and called my detailer (not in). What am I supposed to do? Any suggestions or pointing me the right way would be greatly appreciated. I've also heard that you get reimbursed as far as travel when you turn in your original set of orders. Anybody confirm that.

No matter what, If I had a confirmed date and some sort of paperwork, I would just show up. It will include some extra pain, but you would be in if they were expecting you. Just my $.02

SOP, it seems

Don't worry...My orders didn't come in until about four days before I left, and I was the one racing to get them at the recruiters' office (more than an hour away) at the last minute. But, as has already been mentioned, you'll make it to OCS...

As far as your question about travel expenses they reimburse you a fixed amount based on the distance you travelled. For instance if you came from New York you look on a chart that says the Navy believes it will take you 4 days to travel to Pcola from NY so they pay you for four days at $90 (or whatever the rate is) for your trip. When I came I was made to believe i needed all my receipts etc. but that wasn't necessary. You get a brief in week one on all this as well.

nope, and I don't think I'll get them today (day before a holiday), won't get them tomorrow (holiday). I'm thinking/hoping Wed. or Thurs.

If you're an SNA you might not get reimbursed until you get to your primary squadron, which will be quite some time away. If you are an SNA and BDCP, your permanent station is still back at your college, and you are temporarily assigned at Pensacola NAS. The nice thing is you get perdiem and BAH while you're down here at Pensacola, but the Navy won't pay to move your stuff until you report to your primary squadron. However, you can choose to have the Navy move your stuff down here, but you won't get perdiem, and you'll probably get your reimburstment for travel at that point. It's up to you, lots of perdiem while you wait and you can rent a super nice furnished place on the beach and buy lots of new things, or you can have the Navy ship down your stuff and maybe make a little on a DITY move. If you're SNFO then you'll submit the paperwork the last few weeks of OCS and get your reimburstment in a few weeks/months.
