Osprey visits Pappy Boyington Field

We had our first Osprey visit to Pappy Boyington Field in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. It was a couple months ago, but only now getting around to posting the pic. It was a very big deal locally, as we don't get many visits from Marine Air in this region.

Any others planning cross-country training flights, you're always welcome at Pappy Boyington Field.

How come Ospreys always seem to get parked "pods horizontal"? Wouldn't it just make more sense to leave 'em vertical in what I assume is the engine shutdown/start position? Just curious...not a national defense concern.

It's better for the engines. Plus it keeps them from making a ton of smoke on start up.
