MV-22 Transition

On paper, 2012.

Agreed, "on paper", 2012 is the plan for all 3 MAWs to have turned in their venerable CH-46E models (does not include reserves) according to the Marine Aviation Campaign Plan (see http://hqinet001.hqmc.usmc.mil/AVN/Marine_Aviation/Documents/AVPLAN%20April%202005.pdf. That is the resource document signed out by the Deputy Commandant for Aviation (DC Air) as of 2005 and on required reading list for Marine aviators. It lays out the dates for transition for each specific squadron as of best info available in early 2005. Of course, even it makes note that is subject to change.

USMC has always been good at laying out their Aviation plan, but have to work with Naval Aviaiton counterparts to get it funding in Dept of Navy annual programming/budgeting submit (POM) to OSD that then gets massaged there and later by President's budget shop (OMB) before it goes to Congress. So, there's opportuniies to get more than is requested or less before the President signs on the dotted lines after Congress votes on the Defense Appropriation and Authorization Bills.
