Perhaps this has been covered before, but is ther any truth to the rumor that P-3s are leaving Rota for (yuck) Norfolk?

I had heard this but was unable to confirm it and it would certainly influence whether I try for EP-3s or not.

Thanks.

At least I am not the one stuck on nerd heaven with all those pimple faced 18 year olds who think they are God's gift to the military.

But yes, the nerds are taking over Whidbey Island, BOUHAHAHAHA!

The recommendation was that the squadron move to Whidbey, and it was being signed off the further it went up the COC, but the final decision had not been made yet as of June. The likelyhood that they move to Whidbey is very high. That would be great for the EP-3 community, they have been hurting for a long time because of the lack of community that comes with the assets based in one place.

Plus, us nerds got to stick together, Long live Lambda Lambda Lambda!!

we just had an admiral's call with Rear Admiral Holmes, he indicated it was a done deal and we could expect VQ to begin taking our parking spots as early as December.

now there is a rumor that Kerry may throw a bone to the spanish and keep VQ-2 there which would help our parking situation. so, i say Save Your Parking Spot: Vote Kerry!

do you mean the kids here at DLI?

If so, you hit it on the head. I pity the poor EP-3 types that have to fly with these people. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when some of them get to Aircrew school. "But I speak chinese" "Great...get back in the pool."

back to the Whidbey situation...is ramp space really that tight? And are they planning on putting both squadrons in the same secure spaces or are they gonna rennovate one of them and cipher-lock the hell out of it? I will say, VQ-1 (2 is in rota right?) has one of the nicest wardrooms I've ever seen and every time they hosted us, they were really cool.

PLUS think of all the extra sausage at "The Blue Dolphin"!!!

I hated flying with 90% of those guys "I have a Masters degree, why should I listen to anything you say?", "I know more about intel than you will ever know", "I have a secret and I am not going to tell you", I was ready to b%#@! slap those bastards and the end of some of my flights. I have to give a few of them credit, I learned more about some target countries just BSing with a few of those guys after a mission than I did studying for my board. Some of those guys are scary smart, finding the ones without the ego to match is hard though. Quite a few of them were pretty good looking young ladies though, and that excuses a lot.....Oops, did I just say that?

As for the ramp space, I think they are going to play musical hangers here pretty soon. They have two empty squadron spaces in Prowler land where 143 and 128 :( were, so the 2 exiled Prowler squadrons will probably return from exile soon. What is really bad is the car parking situation, it sucks. They are trying to fix it but the base is getting buried by all the cars, in conjunction with the new security rules.

The VQ-1 Ready Room is very cool, of course I left the squadorn before they did that. It is one kick a@# setup though. It was even a little bit better than the one at VT-86, which was pretty sweet too.

The Blue Dolphin, RUUNNNNN, it is a beached whale!!!!!!!!AAGGGGGGHHHHHHH

I can only imagine. I ran afoul of one in Moonbase, Oman once. I think it may have been the first time i tore into someone in the fleet. If I had to fly with em, I would definitely have the troublemakers hauling urinals and cleaning cockpit windows.

Yeah, I sat on a STA-21 board a while back for a female linguist. What the hell she was doing enlisted is beyond me. WAYYYY smarter than a lot of folks with bars than I know, and this is my impression after a 30 min board.

Funny. Have yet to see it though. This place looks like a clearsil ad.

Yeah, I remember just trying to park the borrowed duty van was a b!tch. Plus those ever-happy airfield guards...

They did it right, no doubt. Pool table, popcorn machine, big TV. I think their SDO even had his desk in there. Of course, they do have a presence in the same spaces year round and dont have to play 'musical hangars' once a year. Must be nice.

Whats the reason for the move anyway?

"The Blue Dolphin, RUUNNNNN, it is a beached whale!!!!!!!!AAGGGGGG"

I actually got kicked out of there once for attempting karaoke, but instead of singing i got on the mic and told everyone there how sh!tty their bar was. I also remember a BIG girl missing a tooth wanting to drive me to the Q...
