Pardon me, help!

Pardon my extreme "green-ness" but if you could bear with me, that would be much appreciated. What is API? I have a future student pilot, and we aren't sure exactly what this is. He's only going to spend six weeks in Pensacola? Do spouses commonly relocate for this? I am graduating this spring and trying to plan where to look for a job is proving challenging since I don't know how long we(me) will be staying on one place. Any wise words? Advice? MUCH appreciated in advance!!!

Aviation Preflight Indoctrination. Yes, it is six weeks at NAS Pensacola. He might be able to get followon orders to Whiting which is about an hr away- I'm not sure how the Marines work that though.

What is your degree in? If i were you I'd look at your job prospects in both Pensacola/Mobile area and Corpus Christi, see which offer more and talk to him about getting stationed at whichever might be more benificial for you getting a job. That way you have a better chance of staying productively busy while hes studying/flying.

My married/engaged friends said their home life got better when their spouse/fiancee got a job- meaning that they enjoyed it more once they had something to do during the day instead of trying to create things where much wasn't available.

Nursing! He said there might be something that he might not have to do if he already has his private pilots license. That might not be API, but do you know what it might be? Or is he dreaming? Are we eligible for base housing and BAH even though we might be in two different places? Sorry about my confusion!

If he has his PPL he won't have to do IFS. He will have to do API.

Not sure how that whole Geobachelor thing works. Someone else can chime in.

Well, with nursing I'd say you are better off for finding a job. There are hospitals in Pensacola and Corpus - and the base clinics/hospitals sometimes hires civilian employees to work there.
A&Ms nursing school is in Corpus so there might be more hospital oppertunities here, but you'd have to look into that for yourself.

Definitely try browsing through the FAQs. They'll answer very basic questions like "What is API?"

If you cant find an answer using that venue or the search function, let us know.

Originally reading her posts, as well as the other thread, something led me to believe that marriage might be in the cards so i was working off that...

Everyone in my TBS company who didn't have to do IFS found out their Primary locations before we left TBS, and I don't know of anyone who didn't get their first choice. If your significant other already has his PPL, chances are you'll get your choice between Whiting & Corpus (or Vance if you'd actually want to live in Oklahoma), so check out job opportunities in both. The best thing for you might be a travelling nurse's position - I have a friend who does them; they're typically 3 months or so at a time and the pay is higher than regular, full-time positions - just start calling recruiting firms about 3-4 months in advance.
