PBI/FOBI Suspended for ASTB?

Effective 23 April 02, RADM Henry approved and signed new program authorizations for 1395 and 1375 that suspend the requirement for the BI portion of the ASTB. The BI portion of the ASTB will no longer be used in determining pilot/NFO eligibility.

Even though the PBI and FOBI will no longer be used as graded portions of the ASTB, it is still a requirement to continue giving these portions of the ASTB to your officer applicants. Responses to BI items represent valuable data that will be used in the development of future versions of the ASTB.

If you have applicants that were non-selected because they were not BI score eligible and they would now meet the eligibility requirements, you may resubmit them via the reconsideration process.

Is this still in effect? I thought somebody from AW recently took the ASTB and claimed to fail out on the PBI section.

Yes, when I took it a couple months back, it was just there as a survey. It's highly unlikely they failed out on the PBI section; but then, how did they know?

Not certain. I recall the guy saying something like he missed it by one point on the PBI.

I'm glad it's just a survey now. Congrats btw, I take it from present circumstances you did well.

Thanks. Yeah, I did pretty well, but I don't remember ever seeing a breakdown of the scores other than the X/X/X/XX

PBO/FOBI are no longer scored or used for selection.

For some of us that took the ASTB long ago, the Pilot Biographical Inventory (PBI)/Flight Officer Biographical Inventory (FOBI) was used and I was one of those that missed the min BI score on my first attempt (1992?)
