PCS vs. Home of Record move

Ok... I graduate TBS on June 9, and start API July 1. We are just starting to get briefs on TMO and orders and such. So here is my question(s) that noone seems to know the answer to: I still rate a home of record move, and I also rate a PCS move from Quantico to Pensacola. However, the items I need to move are niether at Quantico or my home of record, they are in storage in the town I went to college in, which is about 180 miles from my home of record, and about 600 miles from Pensacola. So, (1) Will TMO pay to move my personal things from storage as a home of record move, (2) can I do a PCS move but have them pick the items up from storage (not from TBS), or better yet, (3) would I be better off doing a Do it Yourself move anyways, and if so (4) if I do a DITY move, should I file it as a PCS move or a Home of Record move???? If anyone even managed to read this entire line of questioning, Id love to hear what you have to say... I already have an apartment lined up and I have been told that I am doing primary at Whiting.

Eh, could you use a PCS with partial dity? The HOR move also sounds like a viable option, but you might want to call TMO/PSD and see if they will allow you to use your PCS on the stuff you have in storage. In fact, you should call them no matter what anyone here tells you.

I did a PCS move with 2 points of pick up. One at my residence, the other at a storage locker. Not gonna say it is for sure that TMO will hook you up, but I had no probs with it.

You are overthinking this I think.

Tell them you have stuff stored at another location and they should go get it (they did for me - 80 miles away).

Always do a partial DITY ... take the stuff you need, plus all small, heavy items (get paid more for less effort). It isn't much effort and you'll make a little beer money.

Let them figure out what kind of move to call it (HOR or PCS). As long as they move your stuff do you care?

just as an fyi (not that you'll necessarily want to do this), you can change your home of record address one time. so if you get out (or some other circumstances) and your home of record address is no longer valid, you do get one shot to change it.

as varmit said, definitely do the partial-dity. we just pocketed $380 for nothing, basically.

TMO wont answer the phone. They have aprx 200 LTs to handle in the next month so they will only answer questions in a group setting and even then they only give cookie cutter answers... thats why I wanted some inside gouge. Im just going to tell them what I want to happen and let them figure it out.
