Not sure we/you will ever again see the likes of the French "Lafayette Escadrille", or Spanish "Loyalist" squadrons, or RAF "Eagle Squadrons", or the Chinese "American Volunteer Group". Moving stories from WWII US military pilots from the Army, Navy & Marines. When you're literally fighting for your own life & country, you can get remarkably focused. In the Summer of '65 (before OCS), I worked w/ an Israeli who was on a PT boat in the 1948 war. He said they had to win because they had no where else to go & would be executed if captured. Makes a difference.
