Places that allow dogs

I'm heading down to Pensacola in July, and I've been having trouble finding apartments that allow large dogs (60 lb labrador). The only places I've found so far are Essex Square and Willo-Wick Gardens. There are a few places further out but I'm trying to stay close to NASP, hoping for follow-on orders to Whiting. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Kings Mill (on Davis Hwy) allows dogs, but I'm not sure what it is. And you're from Beavercreek? I'm a Cincinnati boy myself.

I live in Sweetwater Apartments, they allow large pets (40# plus) unlike Kings mill. Kings Mill limits it to 25 #s or less but I've heard you can get away with more. Sweetwater is the place where a lot of people down here for flight school live, easily 3/4ths of my neighbors are down here for flight school.
The places are nice, although be sure to get a 2nd floor unit if you can as the floors are thin and most likely will hear whoever lives above you.

I have a 50# golden retiever and she loves it here as there are many dogs to play with and we are close to UWF and all it's trails and fields for her to run on!

Lemme know if you need more info!

Eaton Square (on Univ. Pkwy) allows 50# and smaller for non-refundable $400 deposit. My friends had an 80# dog for almost a year before the maintenance guys found it. I doubt anybody will weigh the dog, unless it gives them trouble.

Are any of you guys single? If so, what will you do with you're dog during long XC's and the eventual deployments down the road? I would really like to get another dog, but I have no idea how I'd manage it w/o a chickfriend.

When I was there, they only allowed small dogs. My wife (then girlfriend) and my dog stayed there over the summer. The managment caught me one time when I took the dog outside. She's 60 lbs so is considered a "large" dog. Managment said she was not allowed. Whatever. I just made sure management didn't see her anymore.

You can pay a kennel to board your dog. Not a fun place to be if you're a dog, I'm sure. But better than lethal injection. I think it typically costs around $15-$20 per day/night. I'm sure it depends on the location. Another option is to have a friend watch your dog and buy him beer in return.

that's my plan. either that, or let the dog roam free while i'm on deployment. labs are very intelligent - she can take care of herself.

Don't have any other ideas about the dog thing while you're gone, but you could also look into getting a house. A buddy of mine bought a place with a big yard for his two large dogs and that's worked out well for him. East Hill (where I live) is a good place to look for a house to rent, FYI. My roommate has a Britney and it's worked out pretty well, though we should've put up a fence so he could run around outside.

I don't know if this is possible for you but my friend left his dog with the breeder when he moved to NOLA. Because he has a child he wanted to live on base for the schools are better but dogs aren't allowed on base where he is. If you got it from a breeder and you maintained a relationship you could try that as an option. Just an idea.

Austin Wood... right outside the back gate. They allow dogs... I've seen some dogs running around here that might be a little more than 60 lbs.
