PLC air contract

Lonestar155

is good to go
I am going up against the board this Jan for PLC air. Been working my A$$ off to ace the astb and pft. My oso told me today that no one else in the district is filing for an air slot. All other slots such as ground are filled. Does that mean what I think it means? Who else would I compete with in that case? (Without jinxing anything) Also, I have asked this question various times but I cannot get a definite answer. My application ONLY has AIR Ground and LAW. There was no specific category for SNA or NFO. Anyone know the details on how that works if I want a specific contract such as SNA?

look...is your OSO aware of what particular Air contract you want to apply for (ie...NA or NFO)?? If so then you are fine. My application was just like yours and when I recieved my orders it said "Naval Aviator" just like I wanted. There is a lot of stuff that your OSO does to tidy up your package. Dont stress about it..the hard work (for now anyway) is done..now just sit back and wait.

as for your questions about districts..I believe that PLC only compete within their district.

I just signed my contract for PLC air a few hours ago. He explained what the process is, but I still don't really understand. My OSO said that right now I am "contracted", but the Marine board will look over my info in January and give me final approval. Does this mean that I will not know for sure that I am headed to OCS untill the January board? Thanks.

First of all PLC and OCS are two different courses. Second I think your oso is assuming you will be contracted for reasons unknown. Perhaps no one else is applying. The board will just give you the approvoal unless you did not meet the PFT or ASTB minimums. What were your stats. You can even PM me with it since your stats may get moved to the "stats and scores" thread. GOOD LUCK!

actually contracted is a term I have heard OSOs use often for those applicants who have signed their contract (package), sent it in and are waiting for the board. Contracted and Selected are two different things.

The 20/80 might be an issue...mins are 20/40 correctable to 20/20. Outside those mins, you need PRK/LASEK (not LASIK) or consider NFO. As a PLC guy, your scores do look good though...clear up the vision thing with your OSO because the Soft Contact Lense waiver is dead in the water. Good luck.

I have turned in my application to the OSO and it is up to him now to send it off to the board. I have not filled out any sort of waivers yet, is that somehting that I need to include with the application or is it done after after I hopefully get selected? The only medical stuff included was the MEPS physical. Thanks

If your going for pilot you need to do a seperate cycloplegic exam also. I also had to include some stuff regarding my contacts.
