Anyone who is commissioned and has experience in this matter or anyone who has experience at all in this matter I would like to hear your comments. I would like to know what my chances of being selected might be. My Father is a Marine Corps Officer and my grandfather was also. I have all good PIQ's with a Major General for a character reference along with 2 USMC Colonels. I do 265 PFT and am a PLC 07 so I have an early jump on things. The downside to all this is the waivers I have. I have a DUI waiver, an arthroscopic knee surgery waiver (tiny operation), waiver for 4 tattoos (only 1 visible in any uniform including pt gear), And a one time marijuana use waiver. Please let me know what you think. Thanks alot

get the DUI expunged. its a simple petition. you change your plea to "not guilty," the court accepts it (hopefully), and the charge shows up as dismissed.

"Q: have you ever been convicted of an alcohol related offense?
A: yes, conviction dismissed"

getting it dismissed/expunged makes it easier to swallow. you have really put it behind you, even the court agrees.

i am applying for combined now and i understand that its more competitive than PLC.

i just ran a 299 and submitted waivers for DUI, reckless driving, and an infraction. all convictions are dismissed. i brought my PFT up from a 270 in a couple months. took the 20:02 down to 18:08. I used to smoke 2 packs a day and get winded climbing out of bed, if i can do it then you can.

OSO says that my chances are good. you can see all my stats in OCS - "Jan OCC compare packages"

if you are in CA, let me know and I'll help you with the petition to get that dismissed. i represented myself and got it done. oh yeah, if you are still on probation, you need to get that terminated early before you can have the charges dismissed. all you do here is set up a time and ask the judge. my judge took 2 years off my probation.

as far as asking "will i be selected?" i'm asking that question myself. nobody knows what will happen until it happens. but i'll post the good news when i get it.

my advice: take care of the DUI, join XC or track or some sport and get your PFT up, and get involved with the church, some clubs, or some charity.

I have a DUI wav. and I was pretty nervous also. My fahter was a USMC aviator. If you really want it, stay persistent, I did and recently heard "unofficial acceptance." If you want it you WILL get it. Everyone has made mistakes, show how bad you want it, and only good things will happen!!

Enishi, I just don't know anything about the wacky tobacky or getting it waived. I can't really speak to that, tats, or knee surgury. All those may be even more serious. I really have no idea about those things :?

It seems like there are plenty of reasons for the boards to pass on ecutke here if that's what they feel like doing. Alone, a 265 may not even be competitive depending on the applicant pool.

When you look at it, having all those waivers on a package isn't pretty at all. Hopefully, for ecutke, using the "whole person" concept will shed some light on positive attributes that will outweigh these mistakes.

And I'd like to put a disclaimer on my comments: I haven't been accepted, I am not on the boards, I'm no OSO, and I don't know the entire story. I'm just trying to help.

Same advice: take care of the DUI, join XC or track or some sport and get your PFT up, and get involved with the church, some clubs, or some charity.
