PLC Application Timing

Hey, I just got home from a 12 month deployment and am trying to get an application in for a PLC Jr.'s (Aviation) slot. I have heard a little bit of talk about good/bad timing for applications, i.e. October as opposed to now. I was told by my OSO that the deadline for this year is Feb. 24. So, assuming I'm at the tail end of the line of applicants, does that make it a good or a bad time?
By the way, sounds like the ASTB is an ass kicker. True?

Can't speak for the new ASTB, but the test time to start the application process is NOW. If you don't get in you can apply again. It's rarely advisable to wait so you can try to game the system. Just apply and if it doesn't work out you can try again, and you're already familiar with how things work. Waiting in hopes of...well, I don't really know what people try to accomplish by waiting, isn't the best game plan.

I've taken the ASTB within the last month. It wasn't too difficult for me, but I have a flying background and a strong college calculus background as well. If you're good to go in those areas, the test shouldn't be a problem for you, send me a PM if you'd like to know more about the test.

Ditto to what was said above with the timing. Apply early and often. I'm not sure how the system's timing works exactly, but it never hurts to try. Cheers.

Crobar- So, if by chance I'm not accepted the first go, would I be able to re-apply before this summer's session, or have to wait till next year?
Also, I'm a tall mamajama 77 1/8" (obvious as to why I would know exactly how tall I am with the limitations being so damn close) and I am hoping to be a Rotary SNA, is there any reason to inform my OSO of this for a side note on my app., or is it anything anybody wants to know anyway?
By biggest worry on the ASTB is actually the general physics stuff. Even though I am pretty knowledgable in the aviation specific areas (I'm an Army Flight Engineer, bet you didn't know there was such a thing), the questions like the pullies, fulcrums, tensions, gasses (especially these laws), and things like that are my biggest challenge. Any advice as to where I might find a good study source for that area? Thanks.

Don't try to disqualify yourself - let the guys who do your anthropometirc evaluation decide if you are not within the physical standards. You just bust your butt to get those applications in early and often, as batman has said.

If the PLC thing doesn't work out, you could always give these guys a call.
