PLC Switch from (Ground to Air)

Lonestar155

is good to go
Has anyone ever switched their contract from ground to air prior to receiving their commission? According to my OSO it sounds like a simple thing to do but I am sure there are loop holes. Thanks gents...
BTW I have done a search and while there were many identical posts, many said they were going to do the same thing, but no updates. Has anyone gone through the process successfully?

I only know of one guy who tried and did not succeed. But he got NPQ'd from flight for some medical reason.

Edit: I guess that really doesnt help you then as far as the success stories. But from what I understand, it "would have" been done if it hadn't been for the medical problem

Before you commission its relatively simple, just as you OSO said...afterward its VERY difficult...

I've done it. I took the ASTB once before juniors, missed the air contract by a point. Went to juniors as a ground contract. Came back, took the ASTB again, passed. Switched to air within a week. Though I didn't get that spiffy little certificate that says "Accepted to PLC AIR" like i did for ground.
Of course you have to be qualified. He's not gonna switch you if you're not PQed, passed the ASTB, too large on ur measurements, have some kind of mental/moral/physical waiver that prohibits flying, whatever.

I just sent in my contract today for Ground so I can get myself in the PLC program. Since Im a freshman I got three years to get it switched. After failing the test at meps for depth perception my OSO told me the same thing bout being able to switch with a little paperwork. Never had problems with my eyes and passed it last year for AirForceAcademy/WestPoint DODMERB. I have to take in a week will be the deciding factor whether I will be able to change it later on. My OSO said that changing it before TBS is easy but after going and accepting commission there is no way to change.

Before TBS = Before your comission, not before you actually go to TBS...once you commission it becomes a pain in the @ss
