I am struggling with finding my old aviation log book. If I already have my private pilot license but you cannot find your log book and are applying to Naval OCS for a Naval Aviator do you still need your log book when applying? What can be done, it is also difficult to get those hours back because I have transitioned from different flight schools in my flight training. Any help would be great and I feel like I have lost any evidence of my training and experience even if I have my license.

Others with more recent experience can chime in, but I don’t think they care one ounce about your civilian log book. Maybe, after you commission, it can get you out of NIFE but I’m not even sure of that. To simply apply for an SNA slot, your logs aren’t needed.

The OCS board doesn't care about your logbook, or how many hours you have. Problem solved.

Have you discussed this with your recruiter, or were they like "Ey dawg, I dunno lolz... go post on airwarriors"?

Like what others have said, it doesn't matter. Some officer processors wanted a copy, others they just took your word. Just list the hours and if you're asked for documentation, just say you can't find your logbook right now and will leave it blank.

While the Navy won't care about that flight time, if you're looking to recreate those logbook entries, you can request an 8710 from the FAA. That form should have that time since it would be on whenever your last certificate was issued. I'm not that familiar with IACRA, but you might be able to get the 8710 direct from IACRA.

You should be able to recreate from past records. Former CFI, owners and operators of aircraft you used, etc. it's not literature.

But you have your airman certificate that's all that matters. Go recreate your old entries and be sure to maintain a new logbook going forward to show currency and recency of experience.

This is not a big deal
