possible Pilot/NFO slot?

I just got a quick question. I am looking hard at going for a pilot or an nfo slot in the USMC. The only problem is I am 29 yrs old. I have a PPL and scored 51 7,6,7 on the ASTB. Is receiving a slot possible, or is my age just a killer. Any advice would help. Thanks

Don't give up ... but when I was doing the application process (bout 2004) waivers weren't being granted for ANYONE 29 or above. I got in at 28 with a waiver. There was a guy in my TBS class that was a highly decorated enlisted Navy type and had MANY connections high up in the Navy food chain on the aviation side that wanted one of the aviation slots they had. He was denied SOLEY on his age.

Not trying to discourage you ... just giving you info. Def don't give up ... the worst they can say is no.

One thing to consider is that you can def get a waiver for ground. Something to research and see if you might find interesting. But DO NOT pick up a ground slot with the sole goal of switching to air at TBS. It is very difficult (maybe even impossible for you as you'll probably be 30 at TBS) and if you don't get it you had better be happy doing a ground MOS.

Peace,
