pre-API school opportunities?

Does anyone know if Lts are given the opportunity to go to any additional schools upon TBS completion and prior to reporting to API? I've got too many hours for IFS, and apparently the wait for Pensacola is still pretty substantial. Any chance of going to jump school or something along those lines? Even going back home for some OSO work? Its not that I'd mind a few "strenuos" months of relaxing in P-cola...just trying to figure out my options. Maybe I should just focus on FEX 1...(sigh).
*Every time I ask my OSO or another TBS staff member, they go into the whole FIGMAC thing and tell me to go away. Jealousy is a funny thing...:icon_smil

As for jump school, not a chance in hell, working for you OSO? You can, but you gotta cut that umbilical chord sometime. Marine Officers take leave, or work, PTAD is for Captains, not 2LT's. I don't think they're jealous, I just think they realize that ~40 LT's can easily be dropped from TBS, and they'd rather not waste their time on post-TBS questions until you prove you'll graduate.

You might want to try and whore yourself out to a fleet squadorn if you know anyone and go PTAD. The reserve squadrons are probably the best deal, they do a little less ORM and would probably fly you a bit more. There are reserve skids in Atlanta, New Orleans and CA, Phrogs in VA and CA, Hornets in FL TX and CA.
Hanging out in Pcola is ok, working a stash job kinda sucks but oh well. IF you can get to a Squadron do it-make sure you can afford it though financially.

Good to go. The jealousy comment was more in jest than anything... Just trying to express the isolation felt being one of 3 air contracts in the platoon ( I love it, by the way). The **** I get on a daily basis is awesome. Luckilly we got to see this sweet video of the grunts' reaction to a maverick strike on some little white technical. AWESOME. Thanks for the info.

If you get a stash job, or volunteer to help out on projects, the group will work hard to help you out with an earlier class date. Also, they are now letting us do MCMAP and they have gotten a waiver to teach the first 2 sections of EWS. So, sitting in the pool isn't a complete waste of time like it used to be.
