Prior Service Age Waiver

I have searched all over the internet and I have yet to find a definite answer. I want to know the the absoulute age cut off for a prior service Marine persuing a flight contract is.

I have heard several conflicting answers that were either a guess or hearsay. Are there any admin bubbas, OSOs, or SNAs that know for a fact, without any doubt, what the Marine Corps' age cut off for flight contract is?

Pretty sure the 20/31 ages noted above are considered "at day of commissioning" if I remember correctly.

SOL for me...I Guess

The Marine Corps has a pretty hard-lined stance with age waivers. I haven't seen their instruction, but OPNAVINST 1420.1a states the Navy will grant up to a 48 month age waiver. I don't understand why the Marines don't have the same age standards as the Navy, but I'd consider joining the Corps if they could grant me a waiver.

I'm a 29 y/o E-5 trying to get an OCS spot for SNA/SNFO, but I believe my best shot would be if I stayed Navy or transferred to the Army. Everything depends on "the needs of the Navy".

I wish I could answer definitively, however I am currently at TBS as an SNA contract with orders to P-cola at 28(29 in June, commissioned on an age waver in march 09, non-prior service), a Marine in my platoon is prior service and is turning or has turned 31, also an SNA contract. If you want to be a Marine, that's the most important decision, pursue it. period. Don't accept "No" for an answer. The initial answer always seems to be "No", it worked out for me(after a lot of "it ain't gonna happen" and I hope it does for you. rah
