Prior Service/Prior CPO

I am slated for the 23 Nov 2014 class and was interested if anyone was in a similar position to me as an Active Duty CPO headed to OCS. I am primarily interested in recent accounts:

1) What were your experiences with regard to your relationship to the class RDC and DI? Do you feel like they were less hard, equally as hard or harder on you than your classmates?

2) Did you bring up that you were a CPO or did it come out naturally?

3) In your class what was the attrition rate? Did you see priors drop or get rolled or did priors pretty much get through easily?

Thanks!

Priors are treated just fine, your record is included in your files, they will know.
Just show up, be humble, PT hard, listen, and sound off, you'll be fine.
OCS isn't rocket surgery...

Our company had three prior chiefs, including my roommate. They were treated about the same as the rest of us in terms of PT/RPT. Our class team was well aware of who were priors in our class from the start. Our RDC met with all of them as a group and basically asked them to help us non-priors get acclimated to Navy life and give us advice and things like that. As far as attrition, if anything it was lower among priors. If you can get through boot camp, you can easily get through OCS. If you follow orders and don't make waves, you'll be fine.

In my class they gave all of the class leadership positions to priors early on. Then they generally found a reason to 'fire' many of them and replace them with non-priors as training progressed to spread the wealth. None were CPOs or SNCOs though, so YMMV.

Personally, I think as long as you don't walk around expecting special treatment, you'll be fine. No one in your class should know you're a prior unless you are asked.
