PRK and NAMI Waiver

Good afternoon all!

I am currently a SELRES AWF1 applying as a Fleet OCS applicant for Intel, Pilot and NFO. It seems as if I am having a bit of an issue with N3M. I under went PRK surgery when I was on active duty and am currently in an up fight status with a NAMI waiver for my eye surgery. That being said, I received a TMPQ letter from N3M saying my PRK results do not meet stability criteria as per the MANMED 15-34. The letter continues to say that they are "inclined" to waive the criteria for Intel but that they cannot waive aviation programs.

My flight surgeon is currently working on how to rectify this but N3M is not the easiest office to get ahold of directly. I'm curious if anyone else has dealt with this issue or possibly has some gouge to help me in this process.

I appreciate the help!

It sounds as if you are going down the right path, N3M deals with many people so be patient, N3M rarely deals with people over the phone, it is generally all by email.

One thing you need to be aware of is that just because you meet the requirements to continue on enlisted does not mean you will meet the requirements to be commissioned, I have seen this happen several times.
