I found a poll on this site from several years back detailing the number of applicants and the outcome of their pro-rec. Luckily it appears that well over 90% of pro-rec's receive a final select letter; however, there have been an unforunate few that received a non-select letter. With this in mind, can anyone offer any insight about not being selected after pro-rec, such as what can prevent a FS?

My understanding is that it is normally being disqualified at MEPs for some medical reason or for problems that come up during the background investigation. Before the PRT was cancelled I also heard of someone not receiving their FS because they failed the PRT multiple times. Not sure if there are other factors as well, but those are the ones that I am aware of.

To go along with ker, I'm almost positive the only things that can keep you from getting a FS is a problem with your MEPS, background investigation, or PRT. But as of right now, the PRT for a FS is cancelled. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean sit on a couch all winter. You still have a pre-OCS PRT that you have to pass, or you will have wasted all your time on getting that Final Select.
Discussed many times on here... Search around for information such as losing security clearance because those would be the same factors that would prevent you from gaining a clearance.

Just don't lie on the background check and you should be good. My friend got arrested for stealing a sandwich when he was 18. He now has a TS/SCI clearance and works in the intel community in the Navy. haha

Yeah, I mean if the one individual killed someone and transported drugs, it should make clear that pretty much the only thing that will screw up your background check is withholding information.
