Pro-rec for Supply - Question about OCS date

Birdman180

Hey Guys,

I got a Pro-Rec for Supply a couple weeks ago (I am totally stoked) and I am wondering if I get a final select when would my OCS class begin? I applied for FY06. Also because 40% of the Supply billets are already filled for 06, would that mean I dont report until around May 06?

I also applied for SNA and NFO but I guess the Aviation board did not meet in October. Another question is since I got a Pro-Rec fro Supply does mean I won't get one for Aviation?

Thanks guys!

Come on Guys, I know you hate questions like this, but I am pretty new to the whole process. However, I am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve my country and just want some more info. My recruiter does not tell me a whole lot. He said he wasn't even going to tell me if I got a pro-rec because he didn't want me to mad at him if I didnt get a final select. The only way I found out I was pro-rec'd is because I called him to check on my status and he said he was just waiting for the selection board.

Birdman,

Congrats on the Pro-rec. Probably the best answer to your question about beginning OCS is that it depends. Your OCS date will be determined by the needs of the Navy. Welcome to the hurry up and wait process. That being said, I read a post a couple of weeks ago from someone who had just gotten a Final Select for Supply, their OCS date wasn't until June of 06. Have you put in your Fin docs yet? If not, do it ASAP. I got pro-rec'd in April, but I didn't receive my final select until September. The only thing that you can really do is contact your recruiter frequently, call him about once a week to check on any updates.

As for your question about selection from the SNA or NFO communities, no one on here can tell you if you'll get a pro-rec from those communities. It is a fairly subjective process and the best answer for you is that it depends. Whatever does happen, good luck.

Thanks for the info. Yes I sent my findocs in as soon as I got the pro-rec. Waiting is driving me crazy. I have turned down several job offers hoping that I would hear the good news from my recruiter soon. I guess all I can do is stay positive and wait it out just like everyone else.

Birdman,

my husband's recruiter told us that the process for selection goes all the way for the first option first. That is, your application is first considered for pro-rec for the first option only. If you get pro-rec for your first option, then it goes to the final selection board. But if you do not get a pro-rec for the first option or if you do not get the final selection, then your application is considered for pro-rec for your second option. And the same for the third option.

I am not sure if I explained very clearly... But I hope you understand it...

If anybody has been told differently, I would really appreciate if you could let me know... It is simply that from the first time we talk to the recruiters to now, this story has changed completely, and I would like to just know how it really works.

that's how the process was explained to us. my husband got picked up for his first choice on his first application, so i can't verify that, though.

my husband isn't supply, but just to give you an idea he put in his application october 2003, received pro-rec in december 03, final select in feb 04, but didn't report to ocs until september 04, and he was part of FY 05.
