Proper OCS application to use.

Another sailor and I in my squadron (both E5s) are applying for OCS. We both graduated college prior to enlisting. We found out by accident that we were both applying to OCS but we are using two different applications (pointed out by our AMDO). He is using the "older"
format that he found online and I am using the "new" format that was directed to me by a local OCS recruiting chief. His form has OPNAVINST 1420.1A in the corner. Mine is a one page checklist with a short four page application as the second item. It only has the REV 10/10 in the bottom left corner. They are saying that this 10/10 makes mine more current. This discrepancy has halted both of our applications. Has anyone else seen this, or know which is correct?

I was selected off of the November 2010 boards as a First Class and I used the application referenced in 1420.1B. As explained to me, the short 4 page application is for civilians going through a recruiter. The application that I used was about 14 pages and had sepcific pages for the CO to fill out. 1420.1A is definitely old though, don't use it. Good luck.

As a non-prior, I used NAVCRUIT 1131/238 (REV 7-2010(2)) when i applied in the November boards; I just compared that one and the newest (Rev. 10) and see no differences. Being a prior enlisted, it sounds like you should be using the same version as your friend, but possibly with a newer revision number?

So my AMDO confirmed with Millington that the most current version for prior enlisted is the 1420.1/B. The 1131 is for the non prior guys. The other applicant was using the 1420.1A. We were both wrong. I was wronger. Thanks for the help.
