As most college students, I got into some minor trouble and now have one strike with my school's judicial office. This one strike will be reported to my OSO's office with the Dean's recommendation.

Our school of over 16,000 students has an extremely underemphasized parking problem. Basically, I found a special parking permit and used it to park in a special parking zone, so to make it to class on time. My school found out and charged me with Theft. Of course, I don't agree with the verdict.

How hard does the OCC board look into school-related offences of this type?

Well, this is only some charge that the school gave you right? You were only convicted in a school disciplinary system, and not an actual court of law, right? I wouldn't think that something like that would necessarily even get reported to the OCC board.

Yes sir, this was only a school matter. I don't think something as minor as this could even make it to real court. I hope you're right about this type of info not being reported to the OSO. Now days, applications are very competitive and I don't want my package to have a "negative scent" to it.

Theft is no small thing. Integrity is a big part of selection.

I know what you mean.

Ever since I was a little kid, my father always emphasized that thiefs are the worst kind of people on this planet. I believe that he raised me well and I'm not only incapable of stealing, but condemn people that commit such offenses.

Now, I'm being pointed out as one and for what? For doing something that, in my opinion, most members of our society wouldn't even perceive as wrong. Is my school taking ethical values to the next level by instilling their opinionated perception of ethics onto the student body?

My whole disappointment is that they labeled me as a thief. But, did I really steal???????Psychologically, I'm tormented because of the fact that they called me a THIEF.

I hope it all works out for you but remember you are aspiring to a position that requires character well above the rest of society. If you wish to be judged with the whole of society as the basis; a commision in the Marine Coprs may not be for you. Just accept that by using that parking permit you portrayed yourself as something or someone you were not. This is a big deal in the military and as a prior enlisted Marine you should understand this.

How many deans does your school have- it doesn't specify WHICH dean must recommend you. While I wasn't the model student either, my school has several deans so I had to decide which one knew me best.

I'm tempted to say that Dean's don't really know anything, but then again they could!

Uh oh.... I'm gonna go send her flowers now!

Hopefully she wasn't informed when I was written up for hiding in a bush...

All the dean does is look up your record and report if anything is on it. It happened to me and I was written up for drinking on campus while under age. I hope that doesnt hurt me too much.
