Question about my qualifications

I'm in the process of filling out my OCS application and have a few questions about how my qualifications will be viewed. My BA is in English, and I have a law degree (a "JD") as well. I want to know how the advanced degree will be viewed; will it help? will it matter? When I spoke to my local recruiter, he only seemed interrested in my BA; in fact, he didn't even ask about my law school GPA, which is odd and a little disheartening since I was hoping the law degree would help my overall application. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does it matter? You can't change it....so what's the difference how it will be viewed? Will it change your actions/approach?

Yeah, well. The Dude abides.
I don't see why the law degree would not help your overall package...but it also depends on the community you are applying for.

If you're applying for the Unrestricted Line (Surface, Sub, Air, etc), no, your law school isn't going to help much. Won't hurt, either.

If you think about it, you're trying to get hired as an entry-level leader-manager-operator in a highly technical field. Why would a law degree help? It's not like when you applied for colleges and every little thing you did in high school looked good.

Marine lawyers are unrestricted ;-) Heh, but I also have a buddy who I went to OCS with that just graduated IOC; he was a lawyer for a couple of years and hated it. Now he has a platoon of Marines to lead. Not sure how much his degree helped him get his slot but I know the Corps was pressuring him into continuing in Law, obviously he turned them down.
