Question about vision requirements

Greetings all, I am trying to get some clarification on the vision standards for naval aviation as I have seen a number of different answers. As I understand it, the current guidelines are that your vision can be no worse than 20/40, and must be correctable to 20/20. I have also seen that the navy allows LASIK, PRK, glasses, and contacts for correction. I need to confirm this.
Currently, my vision is 20/40 in one eye, and 20/20- in the other. I have no astigmatism, just mild myopia. I need to know the following:
Would it be necessary to get surgery before applying, or would that be provided by the Navy during training?
With the level of correction I need, would I even need surgery, and is it true that the Navy lets you fly with glasses or contacts?
If so, are there any restrictions on what planes can be flown with glasses/contacts?
Thanks

These questions get asked (literally) every week, so I'd recommend doing some digging in the "Doc's Corner" (where you posted) and the "Eyes have it" thread.

That said, you can fly with glasses if you're in limits. The Navy won't pay for anything until you're accepted and in the Navy. They will most certainly NOT pay for eye surgery while you're a flight student once you start NIFE.
