Question regarding Orders to IFS

Hello all,

I was commissioned in June and am still stashed at my unit (making bank), but I was wondering if anyone knows how backed up the pipeline is at the moment. Any idea on when orders will come?

Thanks!

You'll get orders to NASP and then check in down here. Once here, you will be stashed somewhere until they class you up for IFS. You will only do that after you have gotten stuff like DIVOLC, NOMI, etc. out of the way. Once you complete IFS you probably get to wait some more...and then, one day, when the stars align, your name will pop up on the API class up sheet and all of your dreams will come true.

Dood. Shutup. If I were you, I would be praying someone somewhere forgot about me. You're "making bank," with minimal responsibilities, in SD? And you wanna trade that to make less cash for BAH and move to p-cola, with the chance to sit quarterdeck watch from 22-08 two or three times a week? Don't get me wrong I loved P-Cola, but SoCal it ain't.

Will we really be waiting to even hope to class up for IFS until we finish DIVOLC, NOMI, etc...? I assumed we could be doing IFS in the meantime but would have to wait for API... If we have to wait that long before even being eligible to class up for IFS this is going to be a long stay in P-cola!

You need all your medical done for IFS; FAA and NOMI physicals. DIVOLC is pretty much the only thing you don't have to do before IFS, but most people are getting it done because the space is there.

Like someone else has said there's generally no way to gage how much time between checking in and starting IFS until it actually happens to you. However, NFOs are mostly waiting 6-10 weeks and pilots 2-4 weeks less. I'm hitting my 10th week here and I just classed up for IFS today (I'm an NFO), and I was actually pushed up 2 weeks ahead of my original date.

Have fun in SD while you can :D

Don't worry about when you'll get to Pensacola, when you'll class up for IFS/API, or anything short of enjoying your months-long paid vacation...you'll NEVER get another one like it!

Worry less, drink more. ;)

got an email recently that said the pilot schools were at max capacity so they were going to switch back to pushing through nfos. dont know what they meant by it but what i gathered was that if your pilot we will be waiting a lot longer to even get ifs done

Of my 17 years active duty, the 9 months as a stash ensign in Austin, TX remains one of the best times.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth <--WTF did that ever mean?

Gift Horses

You can tell a horse's age and make a relative judgement on it's quality by looking at its teeth. To do so when a horse has been gifted to you would infer that whoever gave it to you was cheap and is generally a condescending act.

Useless trivia fact.

Murdoc out of left field with something useless and awesome at the same time for his 4th post. Well done. BZ to you.
