OCC 191 Select
If I have been preselected for OCC 191 with an NFO contract, are my allowed to hold that spot and apply and see if I can get an SNA slot or are no? I doubt my OSO would even let me but I was curious......

Well, I asked on here bc I figured I would find out if it was even a possibility before I went getting my OSO all hopped up lol.

Short answer is maybe...

Things change so much so quickly as for the selection process and what the MC needs that no one on here can give you a clear cut answer. I have yet to hear someone switch to SNA from NFO, however that is after everything is all done so I am not sure what your chances are right now...best advice would be to ask your OSO.

See, I applied for SNFO bc I was trying to get into 190 during the second board and my OSO figured that would be the best way to squeeze in. Then I ended up getting preselected for 191 which is great, however, my OSO said I probably would have had the same result had I went SNA. Oh well, at least I will be a Marine.

I would say go ahead and try, can't hurt...

Yeah, I am probably going to abandon it. I just don't even know how to go about bringing it up and it seems like a lost cause at this point.

How about just going up to your OSO and saying, "Sir, what would be the likelyhood of switching me to a SNA slot instead of NFO? How would we do that?"...

Can't hurt to try, and sometimes you just have to balls up and ask...

Agreed. Be sure to get what you want before you are commissioned (afterwards you will be screwed if you try and drop/change). A friend of mine told my his OSO he would go navy corpsman if he wasn't allowed to drop SNFO for ground after seniors. OSO made up a bunch of crap about pusing back his commissioning date, etc but in the end he got what he wanted. Remember OSOs are trying to make numbers and will work both with and for you in order to make those numbers.
