I've been hearing that there is a course prior to API (I don't know if its aviation intro 101 or what) that candidates with a private pilots license don't have to take. Can anyone explain what that course is, and is this true about private pilots not having to go through it? Thanks.

IFS - Introductory Flight Screening. Guys with PPL's don't have to go through the program. If you search, I'm sure there's at least one thread on here with details.
