Questions About I-SEL SNA

I've looked around for a few weeks now and have yet to get a sure thing answer. I'm curious about the I-SEL process, I met the standard for both my GPA and ASTB scores currently waiting to get the call for meps (should be going early jan per my recruiter). My question is do I need to go through meps with no waivers or is it just I can't get a waiver for my GPA or ASTB. I've read PA-106 and it only states "Not require waivers or exception to policies." Curious if anyone has any experience with it. Thanks!

What did your recruiter say when you asked them this question?

In the meanwhile, search “immediate select” on the forum, there’s a ton of information on I-select.

Similar questions or follow on discussion suggest doing the research first.

As stated above, your recruiter is your primary POC. However, from my experience (I reached out to N311 and asked about what specific things require the applicant to request a waiver, thus precluding them from being able to apply I-SEL) when you are filling out your 1420.1B application if you put anything in personal statement block 3 (waiver requests) that's going to be your sticking point.

I will say, however, there is still some ambiguity about whether medical waivers fall into that exclusion category because N311 defers to NAMI for medical clearance. The waivers you definitely need to be concerned about are age, education, ASTB, which it sounds like you are not in the red for.

TL;DR: Ask your recruiter and don't worry too much going into MEPS. If you qualify for I-SEL you're probably fine, regardless of what pile of applications you fall into.

Thanks for the input, I'll bring it up with my recruiter again he has been hit or miss for questions thus far, kinda why I ended up here with this one.

1420.1B doesn’t apply to civilian applicants. Appreciate you trying to help but be advised the process is completely different for civilians than it is enlisted Navy.

It be like that. Recruiters are overworked and underappreciated. Hang in there and you'll get through the processing. Hope to see you on the other side!
