the happy dance!
I'm checking in for IFS 15 Sept.

A few questions gents,

1. Should I get my ID before I report or wait. Or, do I wait till I pick up with Alpha Co? Will I need my orders with me to get the ID and will they issue me POV tags or do I go somewhere else for that?
2. Should I get a flight physcial prior to starting IFS?
3. Is there a particular part of the day that is best to check in on?
4. How much paperwork and such do I fill out before I start IFS?

Any other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for your help! Just trying to stay prepared.

The sooner you can get your ID the better, at the very latest however they will have you get it when you checkin for IFS. You WILL need your orders to get the ID. During your normal checkin you will get your POV registered and so forth.

You should already have a flight physical on file but if not they will take care of that when you get there. Any type of paperwork that you have to do will need to be done when you check in.

Caution gouge is 10 years old.
I cant help with IFS we didnt have it.
As for time of day it depends as a rule after working hours is good in that you catn get tasked that day and have the evening to get settled. With that said sometimes it pays to be early, you might get the chance to sign up for a good deal. Call nay buddies you might have already there and get the latest and greatest gouge.

Go to the TBS website and there is a student to student guide that has some general info in it.

2. Should I get a flight physcial prior to starting IFS?
--You need to get your military physical transfered to an FAA physical. This is an easy paper exercise and will be set up for you by Mr. Stark the IFS coordinator.

3. Is there a particular part of the day that is best to check in on?
--Check in later in the day. You will not be tasked out and can focus on getting situated. Although since you will be in the IFS platoon you won't get tasked out anyway (except for cleaning the F18 once a month)

4. How much paperwork and such do I fill out before I start IFS?
--You have to fill out a personal info sheet in order to get yourself into the IFS data base and watch a safety video. After that it all depends on which school you go to for IFS.

You should direct your specific IFS related questions to Mr. Stark I will PM his contact info to you.

Not a good idea to be putting names on here, if you are going to PM him then just add the name there...
