Anyone know if there are racquetball courts on base in Pensacola? Is there any racquetball community in the Navy to speak of?

To go along with this question are there many people that play squash? Are there even facilities anywhere nearby either Pensacola or the other early training locations?

I don't think I have ever been to a military base that doesn't have more than two racquetball courts. So, I would assume that Pensacola has one at its gym.

MCAS New River is a small base, and it's got one - but you can drive to Camp Geiger (a 5 minute drive, they share the same main gate) and have two more... I've never been to a Navy/Marine Corps base WITHOUT a racquetball court...

Saufley "did" have two. Unknown if they still do, but their MWR would know.

I was an avid racquetball player before I joined the navy and was extremely surprised to find out that seemingly every base in america has courts. Back at school and in my eating jobs it was hard to find someone to play with and now I fight people for court time at NAS. Go figure.

Yes, NASP has courts.

Yes, for some unknown reason, there is a racquetball community in the Navy. It's almost freakish. Aside from the recquet club my parents belonged to when I was a kid, I never played or heard of anyone playing racquetball. I started hearing about it here and there when I first got in the navy. I fought the invitations to play as it seemed rather gay. A few days ago I finally gave in and bought my own equipment because I was tired of the flacid rackets, scratched goggles, and lame balls that they loan out at the gym.

Now if they would just stop scheduling me for classes and flights so I could get in more court time....

Pensacola raquetball courts are the best I have ever seen. It is a blast there because it is the only place that I have been where there is a wait to get into the courts. PLENTY of practice with the junior guys!!:icon_smil
