Rear Admiral Kernan follows Admirals Olson, Calland, Maguire, McRaven and Harward as only SEALs to be nominated for a third star, which has all occured post 9/11 reflecting increased importance of Naval Special Warfare in leadership roles outside the Navy (note: all three star billets for SEALs have been in Joint or other DoD/agency positions).

Wow! R Adm Kernan is hardcore. I know nothing about him, other than this and his bio, but, Wow.

Interesting. Joint work post 9/11 is definitely happening more. Pickle's step-mom was taken from DC to Los Angeles shortly after 9/11. Did something with satellites (still does, just retired Feb08).

Met a 3 star at MIL's retirement. Very down to earth, even with all that eye-candy on his chest.
