Recruiter write up

I have read a couple times here that your recruiter has no impact on your chances of getting accepted, but after completing my package, my recruiter says he will finish his write up on his impressions of me as a potential candidate for BDCP. I don't know if this is new, but wanted to ask here if anyone knows the impact this has on your package. Maybe this is unique to BDCP?

I vaguely remember something like this. Honestly, who cares? Take what you can get. If you made a good impression, this can't hurt, right?

Well, you don't have any impact on that at this point, so don't worry about it.

So are you really from "A to Z in the USA"? I always thought that place was made up. :p

I'm actually glad it's in there, just wanted to clear things up. My recruiter is a good (if not ill informed at times) guy, and we got along well, I am sure he will have good things to say. Just wanted to get it out there that it goes with your package.

Yeah, I currently live in Azusa, didn't hear till about a year ago that that is where the name came from.

My selection package was USMC, but I saw my recruiter write up. It was mostly about his overall impression of me as a candidate. I dont think it would really hurt you because if the recruiter thought you sucked at something he'd let you know about it (hopefully) so that you can work on it to be more competetive.

For me, I couldnt run worth $hit when I started. It would take me around 30 minutes to finish the PFT 3 mile run. I would drive down to the OSO every week (50 minute drive) and sometimes several times per week. I ran the PFT several times a week with them (usually a stashed Lt. or the SSgt.) and over the course or several months got my time down to the 21 minute region. He wrote about all of that, saying how I was committed and willing to work on things, etc...

So I think the recruiters assessment of you is pretty much an extra boost if you need it.

Bare in mind that this person is a RECRUITER (although from my experience officer recruiters are much more civillized human beings than enlisted recruiters).

I mean to point this out because their job is to fill slots. They are evaluated on their ability to fill the slots with qualified candidates. If he didn't want you to get selected, he probably wouldn't submit your application in the first place. Food for thought.

I think I get what you are saying, but that's not the way to say it.

Going back through my emails, my recruiter wrote up a summary of my application making it clear what my program preferences were and recommending me for selection. I applied NUPOC but turned in the same basic package as any other OCS applicant, so I can only assume it's the same for everyone else. Like Godspeed said, I can't see why he wouldn't write a glowing recommendation unless he thinks your package is a complete waste of time.
