Four military recruiters hastily fled a job fair Tuesday morning at UC Santa Cruz after a raucous crowd of student protesters blocked an entrance to the building where the Army and National Guard had set up information tables.

Members of Students Against War, who organized the counter-recruiting protest, loudly chanted "Don't come back. Don't come back" as the recruiters left the hilltop campus, escorted by several university police officers.
What a bunch of a**holes...

The only part of this I didn't find sickening was the guy quoted in the last paragraph, who wanted to speak with the recuiters but didn't get a chance thanks to these dirtbags. Where's the concern for his rights?

Armytimes reported that at least one student was arrested for interfering with the police while his comrade threw rocks at the recruiters. I hope they got a clean shot at the face of the rock-thrower and press charges on both of them.

A little more to the story... femnazis attempting to steal the recruiting materials after being given a good faith offer to dialogue with the recruiters...

After negotiations with UC officials, 10 female liasons were allowed in to dialogue with the military reps. Once inside, the women liberated many of their pamphlets and DVDs! A struggle ensued after UC Police officers tried to forcably remove the women from the building. Though no arrests were made, two women were assaulted by UC Police Officer Stevens, and a UC administrator in seprate incidents. The UC admin, Dan Woods, later publicly apologized.

Unfortunately, that's not surprising coming from Santa Cruz. I don't understand why people can't just agree to disagree about certain issues. The military isn't for you? Walk on by the booth without slowing down.

Right now, I'm a little ashamed to be from SC.

Just 60? I hate to say it but Id be pulling the chain and getting the Admininstrators to tell the Campus PD to do their damn jobs. Yes you can protest, however that doesnt extend to the near violent mob tactics being used by many of these "Anti-War" demonstrations. There is a big differnce between "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances," and Protesting. Somebody with a badge ought to make these idiots aware of that.

At UT Austin we had a conservative paper that was constantly stolen or vandalized by different liberal groups. Can you imagine the outrage if a group of ROTC kids tryed to stop an anti-war protest? Ofcourse that would never happen. Even ROTC kids with a month of training have more integrity then to try to silence anothers speach. Liberals will never be able to appreciate the irony that armed forces members actually /protect/ their right to protest, and /want them/ to have the freedom to speak their minds. Keep screaming bloody murder, keep calling the soldiers baby killers, they will still do their jobs, and they would still give up their lives protecting those same raving lunatics.

Yeah, as per their usual tactics, the liberals are the first to assert their first amendment rights until the topic is something that they happen to disagree with, at which point they go crazy in an effort to censor and restrict free speech. I've posted this link before on AW, but it's really a great view of what I'm talking about. This conservative group is a "protest the protesters" deal and they've beautifully documented the liberals trying to limit free speech and "peace loving" people get violent, shove and get into fisticuffs.

Emphasis mine. Censorship is a function of the government and since these were private citizens, they are unable to censor communication.

But I know what you're saying and I agree.

What annoys me is that these people went to a career fair not to look for a job/internship but to prevent others from finding one in the military. Being against a draft is one thing, but being pissed because others are interested in voluntarily joining the military? Whatever dude.

Students Against War organizers, and most participants agreed the action was a success. For the third time in a row, military recruiters were confronted by large protests. The goal of getting military recruiters off campus, was reached yet agian. Many are now left wondering if military recruiters will dare to return in the fall for the next UCSC Career Fair.

Looks like the mighty Bannana Slugs need something else to fill out their day.

I think they are actually anit-war, so the military recruiter is a prime target for their wrath. What they fail to understand is that a vast majority of us in the military are far more anti-war than they are.
