Reintroduction of the DRAFT!!!

I was wondering if any of you have heard that there have been many bills that have recently been introduced. The bills are in favor of the draft, and as you should all know, Bush is for it too. So it won't be long and we could see the draft in action once again! :eek:

I'm planning on enlisting in December anyway, so it won't be too bad. Going Navy!!!

Does this mean that the US wants an even bigger Military? Will this mean that there will be more pilot slots available?
 
This barely warrants dignifying with a discussion. The "draft" bills which exist are there because of anti-war congressmen like Charlie Rangel trying to make political points. No serious politician, including the President, is in favor of reinstituting a draft. Very few people knowledgable about the military are in favor of one, either.
 
well, i heard that the navy was down-sizing, but that the army was trying to get larger. this would mean that there would actualy be less pilot/NFO slots available. I though Bush was in favor of the draft. There have been a significant drop in the enlistment quotas this fiscal year. In fact, Westpopint has seen about 10 percent fewer applications than last year. There seems to be a need for a larger Army. The Navy, however, is downsizing.

You have got to be kidding me. Lane, this is ridiculous, which one of your friends told you this?
 
Oh for crying out loud.

All the draft bills are brought up by liberal anti-war politicians trying to make a point. All they do is cause trouble, make noise, and make people post silly threads.
 
Navy and AF dodnt draft... I know during the Korea/Vietnam era they didn't... drafting was left to the Army and USMC. Still should be the same IF (and thats a huge IF) the draft were reinstated.
 
From the article: "Rangel, an anti-war Democrat, offered the same measure last year, only to vote against it when Republicans brought the bill quickly to the floor of the House without holding the debate on it that he had wanted."

I doubt that he really wants a draft - he's just trying to stir things up...
 
Old tricks for Rangel. The guy is a racist and a trouble maker. He knows it'll never pass, so if someone brings it to the floor, he backpedals.
 
oh,i get it now. that guy Rangel is just trying to get everyone rattled up about the draft, but that he actually knows there probably won't be one. he sounds like a baddie.
 
did I just go through a time warp or something, but I thought LaneNFO no longer had access to this site, either by that name, TheNFO, or enlisted1
