Report date question

I have been selected for SNFO and was summarily required to fill out some database for the detailer. One of the fields was API convene date, does that mean API convenes on that date or is that more like a report NLT date?

It is the class start date (at least for Marines)

I was just selected for SNA and also filled that out for the detailer. The way my LT. explained it to me is that the API "convene date" that I chose will be the date that API begins. This makes sense since the dates that I had to choose from were on Fridays. So I would plan on having to show up in Pensacola a bit before that.

Don't count on starting on the date that your orders give.... wait times and all.

I just did this (commissioned in July), and put down a November date in that block. The report NLT date on my orders is in November. I haven't checked in yet, but I have been told by a few people down here to expect a wait for API after check-in.

Whatever date you put down, that will be your report date, not your API classup date, unless things have changed because they dont even know your class up date because you still have to do the physical, BOLTC, and IFS. So if I was a betting man, that date will be your report date.

I selected Feb 2nd as my API "convene date"..... does anybody down in Pcola know what the approximate wait time for SNA currently is? Or even what it might be come February?

Feb. is way to far out to guess that...be prepared to not wait so when you do wait it is a nice bonus. I heard today that the higher ups, the men with stars, want to know why there are so many Ensigns sitting around, so maybe this will speed up the process, but who knows

I checked in with a few people on Aug 4th and I know one pilot who classed up on Oct 6. The A pool right now is pretty huge tho, I think he classed up earlier than average.

I found out about 2 weeks ago that I'm designated SNA for Dec commissioning. I asked my LT at the NROTC unit when I would find out my report date, and he said expect orders in November. It sounds like some of you have been able to talk to a detailer and pick. Is this correct?

The day that I was selected for SNA my LT. had me fill out a little spread sheet for my detailer. The way I understood it was that the "API convene date" that I chose is only a request. I was also told to expect orders some time in November with the actual date that I will report to Pcola.
