Required Initial Fitness Assessment?

Hello everyone! I was picked up by the April board for SNA and have received my Finsel with a class date of Aug. 16. Last week when I was enlisting my recruiter told me that I had to take a mandatory Initial Fitness Assessment (IFA) a month before I go to OCS. Everywhere I have read it says that the IFA is “strictly voluntary”, including the Navy Recruiting Command Fitness and Nutrition Guide and I cannot find anything about a required pre-OCS IFA on the OCS website. Can anyone shed any light on the situation? Do I have to take an IFA before I go to OCS?

Don't take this the wrong way, but do you appear out-of-shape? Maybe your OR just wants to be certain you can pass before sending you off.
