Requirements for Intelligence Officer

While I know that this forum is for future Flight Officers, I was wondering if I could get some information about becoming an Intelligence Officer? The first question I have is about the Mechanical section of the ASTB, (which seems fairly common on this board). I want to know how many questions actually require mathematical computations. From most of the practice tests I received off of this site, there are more common sense type questions. In the Cliff's Notes practice test, they are all questions that require an extensive knowledge of physics equations and I have never taken a physics class, (I'm a history major).

Another question I have is about the flight part of the ASTB. From what my recruiter told me, I will be taking this part. Should I just focus on the OAR part of the test, or will the three flight portions of the test have a major impact on my overall test score?

I'm sorry to be posting on this board as I am focusing on becoming an Intelligence Officer, but it seems like most of you on here have a great deal of information that will help me out a great deal.

I too am applying for an intel slot so your not "out of place" so to speak. Cliffs is trash and it screwed me up the first time I took the ASTB. I got the Arco and it helped alot for the second test. Keep in mind the format of the test is different. The math in the mechanical is pretty basic once you understand the concepts, and can be done for the most part in your head. Make sure you study the math though because I believe the math weighs heavily for the scores.

This...is...Caketown!
I swear by Arco. I hadn't done anything mathematical for years before the ASTB, but I studied the crap out of it (including the unnecessary Air Force stuff for fun) and got a good score. Get it from somewhere and beat it to hell.

DUDE! THROW AWAY THE CLIFF NOTES! I wasted an entire month reviewing all my physics from college. I found out the mechanics section of the Cliff Notes is NOTHING like the ASTB mechanics section ! Burn that book ! I hate that book ! I stressed so hard over that!

I just want to thank everyone for their help. I kind of had the feeling that this Cliff's Notes book was a bunch of garbage, but I just wanted to make sure that I am studying the right stuff.

just thought I would second that the Cliff's book is a peice of garbage. I haven't taken the test yet, I take it on 6 Sept (wish me luck!!!). The Arco book is great, as is all the other useful gouge found on this website. Click around for practice tests, and take advantage of the links and free downloads. I just hope that it pays off for me...I am not "mathmatically gifted", but I am working hard and getting better. I work with a Capt. (O-6) and she said to get a GRE math workbook--I did, it helps. Do it to it, and good luck!!! :D
