Response from BDCP board..

Ok, I've just submitted my application for the BDCP and I am curious about a few things..

1) What's PRO-REC, and what's it good for?

2) How are folks notified about acceptance or denial?

Thanks in advance!

Darryl,

First off, congrats on finishing your package for BDCP application...some serious paperwork and attention to detail there.

1) Your Pro-Rec comes from an Officer in the field to which you're applying. At least that's where my Pro-Rec came from. Basically he or she looks over your packet and gives a thumbs up or down, sometimes after a personal/telephone interview (or a rapid-fire pop phone interview, as in my case, on Friday night while I'm in rush-hour traffic on the freeway, compunded by half the interview being conducted in Spanish [my professed second-language]).

2) Your recruiter will be notified of the selection decision...and don't expect FedEx's responsiveness. These things seem to be unnecessarily dragged out.

Good luck and feel free to PM me with any specific questions!

Not exactly.

The Pro-Rec comes from a board at Naval Recruiting Command. The board votes and if you are professionally recommended, then they request your final documents. You may have an officer from that community interview you, but that is not the professional reccomendation.

And it is far more common for something like Intel. Not very likely you will need or have an interview from an officer in your community if you are a regular line officer applicant.
