Resubmitting, Letter of reconsideration

So I'm resubmitting my package in the next month or so but my recruiter said nothing about a letter of reconsideration. Is this something required in addition to my motivational statement?
Also retook the ASTB went from [44 6,7,6] to [57 7,7,9]. Are these pretty good scores?

Yes, those are good scores...

The ASTB improvement is a strong change in your application. Follow that with a good interview with a high ranking officer, a strong letter of reconsideration, and other various changes and you will have a much better chance in the next board. I did just that to be accepted in the second attempt.

Thanks for the input guys. Just to be clear the letter of reconsideration is in addition to the motivational statement?

Yes - You will resubmit your motivational statement (edited or untouched) in addition to an additional letter (letter of reconsideration).

Motivational Statement: Talk about why you desire to become a Naval Officer.
Reconsideration Letter: Talk about how you have made improvements to your self in continued desire to become a Naval Officer.

I should be in for the September boards. I took the astb twice, first was a 4/5/4 45 and the second time was a 5/6/5 54. Will the board see both of my scores and notice the change, or are my first scores history? I'm thinking about taking the test a third and final time, but I might for a bit.

Not quite related to the current thread, you should start new threads for new questions.

but ...

Your most recent score is the only score that the board considers as part of you application. I would think long and hard before taking it a third time. Your second score is good and probably just above average. Like you said, it would be your third and final time taking it. That's a big risk.

Relating back to the original thread. In your reconsideration letter, you can make note of your previous scores and talk about how you have improved those scores (among other things hopefully) in the continual betterment (is that even a word? I have no idea) of yourself.

I understand that the Math, Reading, and Mechanical portions of the ASTB are pulled out to generate the OAR score, but what makes a 7 a 7 (for example). Does a 7 = 70% correct? I've been studying for the ASTB for about a month now using the Baron's study guide and I think I have a firm grasp on the Math and Mechanical. Vocab is pulling me down on the Reading.

How long did each of you study before taking the test, what study guides did you use, and was your study guide/s similar to the questions on the test?

Thanks again guys!
As for the ASTB, I don't feel like I did stellar but from looking around they seem like decent scores.
My advice with the ASTB is the timing of the test. On the math section I only recognized a few problems and I studied EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. I think the most important thing about studying the math section is practicing your arithmetic, how you read a problem, and keeping good time. I felt all the other sections were pretty much like what were in the books and study guides.
