Alright, 1st post on the site! Did a search and came back with answes to most of my questions but here are a few I couldnt find.

-How often can I submit a package (going for pilot only, Jan timeframe), I know I could retake the ASTB after 31 days etc...but never saw an answer on how often I can submit (and when I re-submit can I got pilot only or would I choose pilot/NFO/whatever)

-Never took ACT/SAT, everyone is submitting scores with their package, do I need to take them?

-I have "0" flight hours logged, but have flown a bunch with my brother (CFI) and my step dad (private pilot) CFI buddies, and have even had two back seat rides in the F-16(plus sim time in A-10 and F-16)...can I include these for flight hours?

-Ill be done with my bachelors degree this summer, majoring in Kiniesology, would it be helpful for me to also have a A.S degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology (all I have to do is send my college transcripts to C.C.Air Force) to show I am interested in aviation?

That is all I can think of right now, Thanks! (sorry if they were posted I did search!!) Im prior Active AF, currently in the ANG (crew cheif on the F-16s and A-10s)

Yeah, well. The Dude abides.
Alright...I'll try and answer as many questions as I can.

Resubmission: You can re-submit your package as much as you would like, but they want to see that you bettered your package (i.e. increasing GPA, ASTB scores, flight hours, clubs, etc...). That info came from my recruiter.

Flight Hours: To my understanding you have to be able to log those flight hours for them to count. So under the FARs if you can log them, then they are valid. If you were just be-bopping around and your brother let you take the controls for a few minutes, I doubt that would count.

Degree: Associates degrees do not really help a package, so unless you already have one, don't get one. They are looking for bachelors degrees or higher.

I am assuming that since you are taking the ASTB you want to go Navy or Marines, but I don't think you made that clear in your post (since you do have a lot of AF quals). Are you also trying for a spot in the AF?

Isn't it mandatory that there was a change in the package before a resubmitting? or is that just for BDCP. I remember my OR telling me that I couldn't resubmit unless there was something that changed. Maybe that was just him...

Thanks for the help guys. Yes, I'm looking for a commission in the Navy, not the AF. I might take the AFOQT as well, but am looking more to switch to the Navy side of things.

I remember my OR saying something about a 6 month waiting period, as well as something about how improvements can be re-submitted. Though I am not sure if those are two factors that you MUST meet, or if you meet one you are able to re-submit. I am trying to say...

You might be able to re-submit right away if you improve your package. If not I think that there is a 6 months waiting period before you can resubmit without improvements. Could be wrong though, ask your OR.

But about Associate Degrees, those things don't really mean anything anymore, may get you to be eligible to enlist as an E-3, but I think you are past that point anyways. Good luck man!

For civilians applying for OCS, it's 6 months waiting for resubmitting the same (unimproved) package. If you improve your package you can apply for the next boards (e.g. 1 month wait). As for prior service guys, I'm not sure, but assume it's the same (a guess).

It's mind games!

True. However, if you apply for different communities you may apply back to back months without any change in your app. For example, I applied BDCP SNA in May of this year. I was turned down, and immediately reapplied for OCS SNA in June with the exact same app. Also, as per my OR, simply adding more flight hours or clubs does not count as "significant improvement". The main things are improved gpa/astb, another degree, or another flight rating.

I too did not take the ACT/SAT. Was not a problem. I wrote a letter explaining that I had chosen to go to a JC for financial reasons and had no need to take the ACT/SAT at the time. No big deal.

Will ditto on the ACT/SAT. I took the ACT. However it was well over 10 years ago and I did not have my scores. Recruiter wasn't the least bit worried about it.
