Hey Marines,

Just graduated USMC boot camp on Dec. 12th. Fun as hell! Now I'm going to apply for an ROTC scholarship and have a few questions...What is the Bulldog program? How long is OCS? I heard it was only 6 weeks total for ROTC members. Is it possible to get a flight contract before accepting your 4 year scholarship? Thanks.

Congratulations! Ain't boot camp just a kick in the ass? OCS is physically much more demanding, but otherwise it seemed much easier than good old recruit training. I assume you are a reservist so you can go to college? Anyway:

Bulldog is what the six week OCS program is called.
OCS is six weeks if you go NROTC.
True.
You can get a flight guarantee.
I think you might be a little late to get the 4 year scholarship for this year, unless you applied before you went to boot camp.

Good luck!

Congrats Devil Dog. Boot Camp sure was a kick in the ass for me being an 18 smart ass right out of high school. But I'm still a smart ass so its all good. I dont know much about NROTC but if things do not work out for you with that you could always consider the PLC program. Where is your reserve unit at? MOS?

Thanks for the info..Boot camp was a kick in the ass. Everything we did though it was like at the time you didnt think you could take one more step but then once you finished you were like "oh, it wasn't that bad" haha. I'm going to MCT on Jan 12th, then Motor T school, then my reserve unit is in Lubbock, TX. I'm not gonna go back to school until Fall '05. Gonna max out my PFT this summer and make my application for ROTC perfect for when I send it in Fall '04.

When I was in NROTC, you couldn't get an air contract until you were already in your junior year, and had a service obligation. It's been a few years, though.
